Quick Run

We only had time for a short & quick run this morning.
But, quick/short is better than no run at all!
"Yes indeed - quick & short is better than none!" state the happy pair at our turnaround
point of the day's short outing.
A lot of factors contributed to this morning's short run. First, it was a warm day (above freezing before 8am). Second, the silly human had other commitments. Finally, the rapidly rising temperatures meant that the spring crust was punchy so we had to stick to packed trails (which are diminishing this time of year)...

Conditions in the following photo look very nice; but it is deceiving. We are on a narrow packed trail and, if you stepped off the packed surface, then the crust was too soft and we all would sink (we tried it a few times and sunk :)
Nice as long as you stay on the packed base.
Did I mention it was a warm day?
"Oh man, rolling snow angels to cool off!" says silly Max.
"Whew, so hot, eating snowcones to cool off!" demonstrates 'barely on camera' Zorro.
Quick & short; but better than zero: 5.4 miles traveled with 600 feet of elevation climbed.

2016/2017 Season to Date: 123 days on the trails covering 1024.5 miles with 108,600 feet of elevation climbed.
