Bluebird

Jack & Rudy rolling a well-earned snow angel to "cool their jets" at our turnaround point this morning:

"Ah, rub a dub dub, cool the jets!" demonstrates the snow rolling twins.

It was a beautiful bluebird morning to get out and take in some awesome views. We spent the morning on the upper elevation trails at Breckenridge Nordic Center. With most of the outing spent between 10,500 and 11,500 feet elevation, the views are stunning on a bluebird day. I couldn't decide which view shots were best, so you get a bunch :)

Hovering Jack next to flying Rudy as we get a panoramic view of the Rocky Mountains to our right.

Beautiful trail, beautiful morning, beautiful views, beautiful sled dogs :)

Ok, how about this nice view of the peaks? Draw a line straight up from Jack and that is the top of Peak 6 at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Straight up from Rudy's left ear and that is the top of Peak 7. Then, to the left of the tallest tree and you see the tops of Peaks 8 and 9. Cool view of the tops of the ski resort!

Zooming Jack & Rudy as 4 of the peaks of Breck Ski Resort come into view.

Ready for some more? How about a Jack & Rudy hover husky as we approach the Kathy's Viewpoint warming hut with Boreas Mountain in the top center:

Hovering in the bright morning sun.

How about one more incredible shot? Now we have Jack & Rudy FLYING above the trail as you get the tops of Peaks 8, 9 and 10 of Breck Ski Resort straight ahead of us.

I'll say it once more: beautiful trail, beautiful morning,
beautiful views, beautiful sled dogs!

Today's top speed? Well, the GPS recorded us topping 24 MPH (24.2 to be exact). But, it sure felt faster than that to me. I was really expecting a 26 MPH day. But, 24 is what the GPS gave us. Come along and watch for yourself. Does it look faster than 24 to you? It sure felt it to me!

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

What a fast & fun way to earn your 'end of run' treats. But, remember, Zorro first:

"That's right, me first!" declares Zorro.
"We know, we know!" adds patiently waiting Jack & Rudy!

A beautiful morning for a 9.3 mile skijor with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 58 days on the trails covering 456.7 miles with 40,500 feet of elevation climbed.

    1. These are the "New Nordic World" trails at Breckenridge Nordic Center (trail pass required, which you can get at the nordic center). A few other good skijor trails in Breck: Boreas Pass, Blue River Recreation Path, Sallie Barber Mine.
