Hurry

Our first skijor of this season on the Blue River Recreation Path between Breckenridge and Frisco:

Zipping along the fast trail as we wow the onlookers in cars on HIghway 9
to our right :)

The rec path is a bike & jogging path in Spring/Summer/Fall; but it becomes a beautiful cross country ski path in winter! It parallels the Blue River and Highway 9 running from Breckenridge to Frisco. We always gets honks and waves from the cars who are so entertained to see this crazy guy being hauled by sled dogs along the rec path. Another fun shot as we cruise along:

The one place the rec path gets close to the highway and we have a nice
guard rail to keep us safe :) The car in the photo honked, rolled down the
passenger window and hollered, "Amazing!" as they saw us.

Today's video is Jack & Rudy exhibiting speed and Jack & Rudy exhibiting caution! We start out flying along the fast trail. Then, we approach a bridge going over the Blue River. The bridge may look "strong"; but we know that all the boards on it are somewhat loose and shake & rattle if you cross too fast. So, smart Jack & Rudy automatically slow to cross the bridge cautiously and then floor it again once we are safely over. Smart guys!

At our turnaround, Rudy dropped to roll snow angels and cool his jets on the groomed trail. Jack, on the other hand, declared, "Too hot! Need to go off trail into deep snow and cool my whole body!"

Impressive snow angel in the deep shoulder from Jack!

Funny story to end the day's run. We met up with Zorro & Nancy a little further from the Jeep than they usually are. I swear Zorro was telling Jack & Rudy, "It's about time you got here! Hurry!"

"Hi big bro! What's on your mind?" asks Jack & Rudy.

Zorro was still attached to Nancy while Jack & Rudy to me on skis. Zorro turned around to lead us as fast as he could pull Nancy back to the trailhead. I held Jack & Rudy back to let Zorro lead. We could have easily passed him with me on skis, but I wanted to let the old gentleman lead us.

"Come on everybody! Hurry, hurry!" says launching and leading us back
to the trailhead Zorro.

What was Zorro's hurry? Well, 'end of run' treats of course :)

"Told you kids! We had treats to get to!" states intense Zorro.
"You are a goofy big brother!" adds smiling Jack & Rudy.

Great first outing of the season on the Blue River Rec Path: 8.6 miles traveled with 350 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 20 MPH.

2020-2021 Season to Date: 49 days on the trails covering 383.9 miles with 34,100 feet of elevation climbed.
