Endless Fun

It might be May, but the "spring crust" is still FANTASTIC with this year's great snowpack!
Wide shot showcasing the endless spring crust allowing us to "make our own path"
all morning long!
As is the pattern for this time of year - get up early while temperatures are still below freezing and try to get on a firm spring crust. This morning was absolutely perfect. The snowpack in Golden Horseshoe is still great and the temperatures supported a very firm crust all morning long. We were able to abandon set trails and skijor the crust through meadow after meadow after meadow! What a fun day...
Catching air as we skijor across one of many large, open meadows in Golden Horseshoe.
Still going on the great crust as we get a pretty view of the ski runs on Breckenridge Ski Resort across the valley:
Perfect crust, nice views, pretty sled dogs :)
Come along and watch some "crust skijoring" in today's video highlight. Since we are not on a set trail, I do have to keep a lookout for hazards. In today's clip, you'll hear me call out a "right" at one point to move us away from some bushes I see poking through. But, almost immediately after the "right", we encounter a sunken hole in the crust. I call out a quick "left" to correct our direction as I ski around the hole while Zorro, Jack & Rudy dip in & out as they are moving left with me. Then off we go again :)
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

End of one meadow, time to turn around. But first...
"I can't watch, tell me when they are done!" says happy Zorro waiting for the goofy youngsters
to finish their snow angel antics.
"Almost done, but this feels soooo good!" states happy Rudy.
"Not quite yet, I need to roll & eat snow a little more first!" demonstrates talented Jack :)
A quick pause after a rise in the trail to get my bearings straight. Everyone having a good time?
"YES! But let's keep going! Why slow down?!?!" asks the happy trio glancing back at me.
A really fun day skijoring the endless spring crust: 6.6 miles traveled with 700 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 20 MPH.

2018/2019 Season to Date: 109 days on the trails covering 621.9 miles with 58,200 feet of elevation climbed.
