We went to some of our "secret snow stashes" today to find fresh powder all to ourselves!
 |
A wonderful 3-5 inches of untouched snow on one of our "secret trails".
As you can see, there is a "cut trail" in the snow (from a snowmobile), but it has been a while
since any snowmobile has been down this route - so we had fresh snow all to ourselves! |
You might wonder how we are able to find untouched snow during the height of the ski season... Well, "
Siberian Power" is the answer: the trail pictured above required quite the uphill skijor climb to arrive at - the typical cross country skier is not going to attempt the inclines we take to find fresh snow. But, I have my Siberian partners, so powering up steep inclines to enjoy private snow is always worth it! :-)

"What? Turnaround? WHY?!?" states a curious Zorro and puzzled Max.
Unfortunately, this secret trail we climbed to enjoy would eventually take us to the middle of
unpopulated nowhere. So, at some point, I had to call an end to the private snow fun and turn
us around to take the same path back. Max & Zorro still do not buy that reasoning, "What is
wrong with the middle of nowhere?" they are still pondering... |

Returning back to civilization on our freshly laid tracks. |
 |
All 4 back legs out-stretched in "pulling unison" as we power up an incline on another section
of lesser used/untouched powder trail. |
A big "elevation climbing day" to enjoy fresh powder to ourselves! 8.8 miles with 1700 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 22 MPH - great fun.
