Machines

Nice view from high up on Buffalo Pass this morning:
Zooming along as we take in the view of all the mountains below us...

It was a "day of machines" as we started from the Dry Lake Trailhead and headed up (and then down) Buffalo Pass.

Snowcats haul humans up the pass to experience deep powder backcountry skiing. We stepped off the trail to let 5 different snowcats pass by...
"Interesting contraption, huh bro?" say the curious pair inspecting the snowcat rolling by.

Snowmobiles are another common machine one encounters on runs up/down Buffalo Pass:
"Hi to you too!" say Max & Zorro to the snowmobiler waving to us as we cross paths.

Snowcats, snowmobiles and sled dogs - three types of snow machines enjoying the terrain on Buffalo Pass today:
My favorite type of snow machine - sled dogs!!!!

The trail from Dry Lake up Buffalo Pass is a steep climb; but a steep climb also means a fast down. Today's short video clip shows some of the fun & fast times coming back down the trail.
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

A fun day had by all:
"Snowcats, snowmobiles and sled dogs - what else could enjoy the steep terrain today?" ask
my happy pair at our turnaround point of the day.

A steep day with 1450 feet of elevation climbed (and descended) covering 8.8 miles with a top speed of 23 MPH.

2014/2015 Season to Date: 92 days on the trails covering 797.9 miles with 84,950 feet of elevation climbed.
