Upper Fun

A ton of fun skijoring the perfect conditions in upper French Gulch this morning!
Sprinting in a snowmobile track that went on for miles - wheeee!

The upper section of French Gulch is in perfect condition for a great skijoring day. The four things we encountered on the trail today: a snowmobile track for fast sprinting (see above), a narrow ski track for tight shoulder-to-shoulder jogging, a span of no tracks for breaking trail and a fun moose sighting from afar. What a perfect day in the upper gulch...

Barely wide enough to jog should-to-shoulder once the snowmobile track eventually ended.
Breaking trail far back in the gulch once all existing ski tracks ended.
Detecting, surveying and finally spotting a moose moving through the trees across the
meadow. Far enough away for me to feel safe but close enough for Max & Zorro to get a
nose full of "moose scent" and an intense stare as we watched it move in the trees.

Eventually we had to turn around...
"Okay - it has been fun all day, let's retrace our steps!" exclaims happy Zorro.
"Roger - retrace our tracks. Besides, the moose was back this way!" states 'ready to go' Max.

Such great snow for a fun day in upper French Gulch: 8.7 miles covered with 900 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 21 MPH.

2014/2015 Season to Date: 96 days on the trails covering 828.0 miles with 88,300 feet of elevation climbed.
