Happiness

Happiness is topping 24 MPH skijoring!
"Boy did we have FUN today!" exclaim my ecstatic partners looking at me at a turnaround
point on the trail this morning.
The French Gulch Trail was "fast packed" for miles & miles today. Just enough snow for the human to feel safe yet packed enough to "floor it"!
Zoom!
I think today's video will do a better job of showing the fast packed terrain. I have spliced together 3 of our (many) speed clips into one video summary. Somewhere in this footage, the GPS clocked us topping 24 MPH.
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

It was not just "fast packed" that got Max & Zorro sprinting today. We encountered multiple moose tracks and one moose sighting. If you add "moose juice" to my partners and put that with a fast packed trail, well... ZOOM!
Big bull moose across the gulch. Hard to see in the photo (look under the arrow); but our noses
pulled us off trail to stare here and we ALL saw him!

Fast packed terrain + moose juiced Max & Zorro = 8.9 miles traveled with 900 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH.

2016/2017 Season to Date: 32 days on the trails covering 237.7 miles with 24,450 feet of elevation climbed.
