Woo

We had a wooing great time skijoring Breckenridge Nordic Center this morning!

"Woo indeed!!!!" adds silly wooing Rudy.
"Great time indeed, but it's a little noisy out here!" adds happy, happy Jack.

Rudy is the talker in our household and today he had many WOOs to add to the outing. What was he wooing about? Well, Jack & I will simply say, "Don't ask, it's Rudy!" :) Seriously, he was just very talkative about the fun he was having on the trails this morning.

In between the woos, it was a beautiful bluebird morning to zoom around the trails at Breckenridge Nordic Center and take in all the views. Come along for the ride...

Cool shot of speedy Jack & Rudy with Peak 7, 8 and 9 of the ten mile range that houses Breckenridge Ski Resort in front of us:

Top of Peak 7 straight up from Rudy.
Top of Peak 8 is the little hump to the left of 7.
Top of Peak 9 is the large peak to the far left.

Is there a Peak 10 in the ten mile range? Yep (there are actually 10 peaks across this span of 10 miles, pretty cool) and here you see the top of Peak 10 straight up from Jack:

Zooming on the trail with Peak 10 coming into view.

Nice views of the peaks? Well, how about some nice views of the warming huts sprinkled throughout the nordic center?

7 of 8 feet off the ground as we approach the Kathy's Viewpoint Warming Hut.

If you thought the last photo was cool, wait for the next one :)

Jack & Rudy catching air as they hover over the trail to fly by the
Hallelujah Warming Hut on this beautiful bluebird morning.

With so much fun video to show, what to highlight? Well, today I'll pick the zoom by Kathy's Viewpoint. I like this clip as we start out in the shade and then transition around a corner into the morning sun to fly by the warming hut. Wheeee!

Did I mention Rudy was in a goofy mood this morning? Here we have Zorro & Jack front and center for 'end of run' treats while 'la la land' Rudy is doing his own thing on the snow pile next to us!

"Front, center & ready!" declares focused Zorro.
"I'm right here too!" adds Jack.
"Slurp, I can taste the treats in anticipation from way back here!" says
silly slurping Rudy (notice the tongue slurping around his nose).

A zooming fun bluebird morning: 7.6 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.

2021/2022 Season to Date: 57 days on the trails covering 453.7 miles with 42,900 feet of elevation climbed.

See

Jack is very proud to announce that he doesn't roll a snow angel at EVERY break point on the trails!

"See, I can stay upright! Sometimes!" states proud Jack.
"Rub a dub dub!" adds snow angel rolling Rudy.

Well, I don't know about that Jack... Today was Jack's 409th skijor of his young life. He had rolled at least one snow angel on 408 straight skijor outings leading up to today. Are you fooled by Jack in the prior photo?

Nope. 409 straight outings with at least one snow angel roll from Jack :)

Our second pause of the day. There's my Jack :)
"Hey, two stops is WAY too many to not roll at least once!" adds goofy Jack.
"Like I said before, rub a dub dub!" contributes silly Rudy.

Outside of the silly kids rolling snow angels, it was a wonderful fast & fun skijor at Breckenridge Nordic Center this morning. Here's a cool shot of fast running Jack & Rudy with peaks 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Breckenridge Ski Resort in the foreground:

Fast kids! Wheeee!
Peak 6 straight up from Jack. Peak 7 up and slightly left of Rudy.
Peak 8 just left of the tall tree in the upper center.
Peak 9 to the left of 8.

A little further along and hovering Jack & Rudy as Peak 10 of Breckenridge Ski Resort comes into view (the ski runs of the resort span the mountains of Peak 6 through 10).

Top of Peak 10 straight up from Rudy. Wheeee!

How fast and fun today? Well, come along for another wild cornering sprint to the end of this morning's skijor. Jack & Rudy are flying around the corners while I am skiing my hardest and leaning into the skis to keep with them. Then, a fast final descent to the day until everyone slows perfectly to transition onto the narrow "exit ramp" from the trail. Super fun whipping around the corners with Jack & Rudy coupled with an impressive "slow to save the human" ending!

Great shot to end the day. Zorro and Nancy parked at one end of the trailhead parking area and came to meet us at the trail. Retired Zorro was cute & frisky to jog back to the Jeep alongside Jack & Rudy to take us all to our 'end of run' treats!

Jack & Rudy still attached to me, Zorro attached to Nancy.
All three jogging in unison to lead us back to the Jeep.

Another zipping & zooming day from Jack & Rudy: 8.3 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 79 days on the trails covering 634.1 miles with 55,900 feet of elevation climbed.

Peaks

I think Jack & Rudy had a great time skijoring today, don't you agree?

"I am having a BLAST!" exclaims ecstatic Rudy!
"Me too, me too! Whee!" adds happy Jack.

We skijored upper trails of Breckenridge Nordic Center today and took a path that gave us lots of great views of the mountain peaks. But, before we get to the view, we need to do our pre-workout stretches as the trailhead while I put my skis on:

Pre-workout stretches from the goofballs.

I've mentioned this before; but, yes, Jack & Rudy often roll snow angels BEFORE we start running (as well as at turnaround time to cool off). It must be a pre-workout stretch for them. Silly kids!

Okay, on to the day's views of the peaks. Here we go with Peak 9 and Peak 10 of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Draw a line straight up from Rudy's right ear and that is Peak 10. To the right of that, the hump between the two trees is the top of Peak 9.

Zooming along as peaks 9 & 10 come into view.

Further along and we transitioned to a different trail further out and higher up than the previous photo. Now we get a view of Peak 6, Peak 7 and Peak 8 of Breckenridge Ski Resort. The upper right with the solo tree sticking up is the top of Peak 6. Draw a line straight up from Jack's tail and that is the top of Peak 7. Slightly to the left of that and you have the top of Peak 8.

Still zooming as we now have peaks 6, 7 and 8 in view.

Eventually we dipped back down into the trees. With no pretty peaks to gaze at, we might as well floor it and skijor fast through the forest. Come along for a video glimpse of the fun :)

Back to the trailhead and a very satisfied Jack & Rudy with our morale leader Zorro:

"You have my full attention!" declares Zorro.
"So much fun today!" exclaims Jack & Rudy.

A zippy, zooming day cruising around the nordic center and taking in all the peaks: 8.6 miles traveled with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 22 MPH.
