2022/2023 Season in Review

Time for our annual "season in review" video...

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

If you've been watching our "season in review" videos over the years, you will notice something slightly different this year. Historically we have synced the video to the song Flirtin' With Disaster by Molly Hatchet. Well, all good things have to come to an end...

Youtube has tightened their copyright restrictions and you can no longer publish ANY video using any copyrighted music. They have gotten so strict that they even went back and blocked all my previous year end videos that were using Flirtin' With Disaster as the background music.

Oh well, I did find a nice & free background tune to put in this video: Free Dog by Silent Partner. It's not as much fun as Flirtin' with Disaster; but it does flow nicely with the pace at which Jack & Rudy run!

Summary of our 2022/2023 season with RECORD mileage:

  • 1444.0 miles traveled.
  • 164 days on the trails.
  • 130,600 feet of elevation climbed.
  • 26 MPH top speed.
  • At least one snow angel rolled by Jack on ALL 164 outings.
  • 45 outings with a WOO from Rudy.
  • 1 elk leg found with meat still intact.

Well, not much left to do with summer. Bring on the 2023/2024 Skijoring Season and...

PRAY FOR SNOW!!!!!

Season in Review

It is July, so no skijoring to report for the month...

So, what to do while we wait for snow to return? Well, aside from "hiking the mountains" during the summer, we can relive the 2014/2015 skijoring season by making our Season in Review video highlight reel.

Here you go - 5 minutes of our 1324.9 miles of skijoring sync'd to Molly Hatchet's "Flirtin' with Disaster" (a perfect song for what skijoring is all about :-)

2013/2014 Season in Review

Well, it is that time of year... We have been done skijoring for about 6 weeks and the natives (Max, Zorro & I) are restless.

What to do in the middle of July? I know, make our "season in review" video. It is not the same as being on snow, but it does give us the pleasure of revisiting our footage from last season and assembling the best clips into a 5 minute highlight reel:

Be sure to watch in HD and in a large format (or full screen) to get the most of the highlight reel. Also, turn on the volume and listen to the fun sync'd to Molly Hatchet's "Flirtin with Disaster" - this is a very appropriate song for our skijoring activity:

Oh yea, one more thing... Pay close attention to the song and the video starting around the 2:50 point of the video: the lyrics and action are classic and complement each other perfectly :-)

Pray for Snow, bring on 2014/2015....

2010/2011 Season Recap

Well, summer finally did arrive in the Colorado high country... I put my skis away yesterday to make room for summer toys in the garage. A recap of our wonderful 2010/2011 Skijor Season is below...
Our best "action shot" from the 2010/2011 season!
2010/2011 Season Recap:
2010/2011 Season Awards:
  • Lead Dog Award: Max - for his superb listening skills and ability to get the 3 of us out of "any situation" and power us over/through/around any obstacle. We never could have surpassed 400 miles without Max's leadership!
  • Court Jester Award: Zorro - a friend summarizing my skijoring blog to someone, "you have to read it, the stories are great, the pictures are beautiful and every once in a while you die laughing at something Zorro 'the court jester' did on an outing!" Zorro is our super pulling "wheel dog" but he is also our court jester wildcard on any outing :-)
  • Lunatic Award: Brad - "lunatic" (or some close synonym) is one of the first 3 words I get from people when I tell them I skijor at speeds upwards of 30 MPH while attached to 2 Siberian Huskies.
You are probably wondering, "is that it until the 2011/2012 season?" Ha - not a chance - stay tuned to witness & read about our summer 2011 skijor conditioning efforts!

Peace, Love & Snow - Brad, Max & Zorro...
