Have you ever seen two happier faces as Max & Zorro look back to me when I called to them to turnaround at the midpoint of our outing today?

"No 'April Fools' here - we still have snow, we are still skijoring!" say happy Max & Zorro. |
We only had time for a short & quick outing today. But, no complaint from the Siberians - any skijoring is better than none! We did a quick out & back in Indiana Creek today. The lower to mid sections of the trail were "icy in the shade" and "slushy in the sun" - leading to "too fast in the shade" and "under control in the sun" all day. Siberians, skis and ice do not mix (especially downhill)! The upper sections of the trail were untracked - as pictured above. It was really nice on this section of trail as the snow crust was hard enough that none of us fell through; so it was as if we were laying fresh tracks in 1-2 inches of snow - ah, perfect!
Some fun from the day:
|
The Siberians working & pulling hard to help propel the human uphill - whee! |
|
A "fully connected, dual snow angel" to cool off at our high point.
Very difficult and talented maneuver :-) |
|
Cruising through the tall shrubbery - icy but flat, so going fast... |
Today's short & quick outing covered 6.8 miles with 900 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 21 MPH. We are hoping for fresh snow overnight so the trails are less slick tomorrow...
