It is Nov 6th and today was our 6th skijor outing for November!
6 for 6 to start the month, woo hoo!
Packed Boreas Sprint Track! Zoom! |
Today's route took us up & down Boreas Pass Rd. Once winter gets really rolling, Boreas Pass is closed to cars (usually the end of Nov). Until then, though, it is open to vehicles and is a popular route for 4x4s to get into the backcountry for hunting season. The vehicular traffic serves to pack the road into a Fast Siberian Sprint Track! We spend most of our skijoring time on un-groomed backcountry trails; so, when Boreas is packed like today, we get to see what it is like to skijor "nordic center like" trails. One word summarizes Max & Zorro on "groomed trails" - ZOOM!
Cruising up Boreas Pass at a very nice "uphill speed".
I felt like I was on a rope tow being taken up the mountain - whee!

6 days skijoring for the first 6 days of November and already 17 days on the trail early in the 2013-2014 season. Siberian Heaven!
"Huh? Did you say 'time to turn around' - Why?" ask a curious Max & Zorro questioning my strange request to turn around... "What for?" they say... |
"Well, ok. But, if you are going to pull that silly 'turn around' antic then we are going to roll snow angels and chomp down on snow cones first!" declare Max & Zorro. |
A great 9.3 mile sprint up & down Boreas Pass Rd with 900 feet of elevation climbed. Unfortunately, a "GPS glitch" lost our top speed. Darn, it had to have been in the low to mid 20s...
