Wild

Getting Wild skijoring the freshly groomed Wilder Gulch Trail at Vail Pass. Wheeee!
Absolutely perfect conditions! What an unexpected mid-April treat!!!
Our original intentions were to skijor the spring crust in the open meadows at Vail Pass this morning. But, we arrived to find the Wilder Gulch Trail had been freshly groomed and we were first tracks on the trail. Without saying anything, we all three abandoned the "spring crust plan" and followed the groomie zoomie as far as it would take us - 10.2 miles worth (5.1 out and then 5.1 back).
"Can you believe these PERFECT conditions?!?" exclaim my happy partners when I paused
to check if it was time to turnaround or keep going...
The pictures say more than I can describe...
Zoom we go on the freshly groomed trail all to ourselves this morning!
Today's video clip is what you would expect from a groomed trail - fast, fun and fast! Wheeee!
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

Perfect conditions but the temperatures were a little on the warm side. You know what that means:
"Must eat snowcones to cool off at our turnaround point!" says silly Zorro.
"Hmmm, I think I have a better idea!" suggests Max.

"AAAAHHH! Now this is how you cool off!" exclaims silly snow rolling Max.

An unexpected surprise finding Wilder Gulch freshly groomed leading to a 10.2 mile outing with 1100 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 25 MPH.

2016/2017 Season to Date: 128 days on the trails covering 1070.8 miles with 113,200 feet of elevation climbed.
