May Freshies

A wonderful snowy morning to skijor up & down Elliot Ridge!

What a drop-off to our right. Elliot Ridge is QUITE the ridge!!!

We decided to see if Elliot Ridge had enough snow to skijor this morning. We knew the snow up high would be great, the only question was what would the first mile or two look like. As we turned off the highway towards the trailhead, it started raining! Egad! But, the trailhead is a couple thousand feet up from the highway. By the time we arrived, the rain was snow - yay! We the found ourselves laying fresh tracks the entire out direction and being second tracks to ourselves the entire return. May freshies - what a treat!

Nice straightaway to open it up with fresh snow!

The conditions were actually better than I expected at the trailhead. We were able to skijor almost the entire trail back.

Almost back too the trailhead and still enough snow to go!

Now come along for a look into just how nice the conditions were up high. Sure the trail is a little rough and bouncy, but it's fresh snow in May, you can't beat that!

Of course, Jack & Rudy have two things they love about fresh snow: laying fresh tracks and rolling fresh snow angels :)

Rub a dub dub goes the snow rolling sillies at our turnaround point.

Back to the trailhead and it was time for "end of run treats amidst active snowfall" - now that is a May treat!

Dishing out the treats with snowflakes coming down around us!

A great May skijor outing: 8.7 miles traveled with 900 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 20 MPH.

2022/2023 Season to Date: 149 days on the trails covering 1317.2 miles with 120,700 feet of elevation climbed.
