We have had the pleasure of laying fresh tracks in a light layer of new snow for two days in a row!
Daily Freshies! Wheeee!
Laying fresh tracks to start the outing on the Buffalo Park trail atop Rabbit Ears Pass yesterday. |
I did not get a chance to writeup yesterday's fun skijor outing, so we'll combine yesterday and today into one. But, the theme is the same for both days: Daily Fresh Tracks!
Today found us laying fresh tracks in a light layer of new snow on the wide trails at Gold Run Nordic Center:
The fun kids flying as you can see their fresh track footprints behind them. |
Yesterday we had dual snow angels from the comedians at turnaround time:
"Ah, rub a dub dub!" goes the snow rolling sillies. I love the look of pure happiness and pleasure on Jack's face! |
Since yesterday was dual snow angels, that means today was woos and angels to mix up the comedy act:
Jack ALWAYS rolls snow angels. Rudy switches between rolling and wooing (although he has rolled and wooed at the same time a couple of times :) Since yesterday was rolling, today was wooing! |
Yesterday we did an "out & back" skijor, so we got to glide in our "out tracks" on the way back:
Catching air in fresh snow over an old snowmobile track. I love how Jack & Rudy's shadows have fused into one :) |
Today was a one way skijor, so it was laying fresh tracks all morning long:
Look closely and you can see Jack & Rudy's footprints in the fresh snow behind them. |
What video highlight to use from the last two days? So many options. How about the following: skijoring in fresh snow over old snowmobile tracks across an endless meadow. This really is a meadow of 2-3 foot high bushes in the summer with no path or trail through it! Again, the ski tracks you see are our own "out tracks" across this same meadow. Wheeee!
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]
As usual, both days found the kids climbing snow walls to get their end of run treats. Yesterday's wall was a little higher and in the sun, so we'll use that one:
Smiles all around, what a fun day! |
Yesterday's tally: 8.4 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 22 MPH.
Today's tally: 10.2 miles traveled with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.
2023/2024 Season to Date: 105 days on the trails covering 901.0 miles with 87,100 feet of elevation climbed.
