Chase

Another great outing running the trails with the dog sled teams from Good Times Adventures this morning!
"We are having sooooo much fun today!" exclaim my incredibly happy partners looking back
at me at a turnaround point during the our outing.
Max & Zorro's favorite thing to do on these trails is get behind a dog sled team and play chase!
Sprinting along as you see a musher and 6 dog team in front of us. Here we come!!!!  :)
Of course, flirting with teams we let pass by is almost as fun as chase (almost, though, chase is clearly their favorite activity :)
"Hi friends!" say Max & Zorro to the team coming by as we are paused on a side trail to watch.

Today's short video clip is a ton of fun... We had been following and chasing a 6 dog team + musher for a while when we get to this fun clip of the game of chase. Watch as we are in a chase with the dog team in front of us. If you look real close, you can see "snow dust" coming up from behind the musher. What is this? It is dust from the musher "riding the brake". What happens when you ride the brake in front of Max & Zorro? Well, we catch you! Note that about 20 seconds into the video I start snowplowing to slow us down (even though, as you see, Max & Zorro are still pulling with gusto trying to speed us up). The few seconds of snowplowing gives the team some lead before I put the skis back together and release us into a full speed chase again. Wheeee!
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

A fun day of "chase & flirt" with dog sled teams: 9.6 miles traveled with 900 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.

2016/2017 Season to Date: 100 days on the trails covering 829.6 miles with 89,300 feet of elevation climbed.
