Heat Wave

A heat wave in January on the trails today!
Zoom - we had our share of open stretches to uncork the engine and really fly; but we
also spent part of the day slogging through wet snow in "siberian hot" temperatures.

32 degrees at the trailhead when we started the outing and 35 by the time we ended. Such "hot" temperatures will slow Max & Zorro. Add to that a wet & sticky top layer of snow for some stretches of the outing and we found ourselves covering only 9.4 miles on trails where we would usually do well over 11 miles an outing! No problem, still a fun time had by all...

Sprinting nicely along one of the "not sticky" stretches of trail - wheeee!
"Hot & sticky; but still a fun day on snow!" exclaims happy Max.
"Ready... Why are we stopped!" states Zorro.

I had a great video excerpt from today's outing; but youtube is refusing to load it in under many, many hours. Oh well, enjoy the few still shots from the day and check back for a fun video soon...

9.4 miles traversed atop Rabbit Ears Pass with 850 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.

2014/2015 Season to Date: 54 days on the trails covering 452.2 miles with 48,800 feet of elevation climbed.
