Perfect conditions to fly out & back in Wilder Gulch at Vail Pass this morning.
Near the start of the day as we fly along the perfectly set trail - zoom! |
We had two problems today that interfered with most of our GoPro footage of the outing. First, unbeknownst to me, there was a water spot almost dead center on the GoPro case for the majority of the outing. This meant one of either Max or Zorro was blurred by the spot in just about all of the footage. Second, the GoPro was being fussy and kept shutting off for no reason. I glanced down at it 3 different times only to see that it had stopped recording without being touched. I guess the camera knew it had a water spot so there was no reason to be on... Oh well, here is the little bit from the day:
At our turnaround point near Ptarmigan Pass (the top of Wilder Gulch). Max thinks it is a beautiful 10 degree morning to roll a snow angel to cool off. There were 2 snowmobiles at the top of the pass that had nosey Zorro's attention. Notice the smudge in this shot (just above Zorro) - this is the water spot I did not realize was on the case that interfered with most of the day's footage.
"10 degree hot tub! Must cool off!" declares silly Max. "Hey! People on top of the pass, must monitor!" states nosey Zorro. |
At least Nancy had a different camera at the trailhead so was able to get an unobstructed "end of run pork treats" shot for the day:
"Swoosh, swoosh goes my tail - hand over the pork!" says giddy Max. "I can almost taste them already!" says anticipatory Zorro. |
Not much unobstructed footage - but still a great day running Wilder Gulch: 9.3 miles traveled with 1100 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 22 MPH.
2015/2016 Season to Date: 53 days on the trails covering 450.5 miles with 47700 feet of elevation climbed.
