Fresh Groom

Flying Sled Dogs on the freshly groomed trail at Gold Run Nordic Center. Wheeee!
Sprinting skijor machines!!!!
We started the day on a narrow trail. Not a problem, it was just wide enough to fit three sled dogs:
Look - we all fit, just barely :)
The plan for the day was to start on the narrow backcountry trail and eventually connect onto the groomed trails at the nordic center. Once we hit the nordic trails we were thrilled to find we were first or second tracks on the newly groomed terrain.

Come along and watch as Zorro, Jack & Rudy are flying along the groomie zoomie. Love the personality contrast near the end of this clip. We encounter a hard left near the end of the clip. Polite Jack hears my skis scrape to handle the turn so he slows down to check that I make it. Meanwhile, "sled dog monsters" Zorro & Rudy simply connect shoulder to shoulder and lean & sprint through the corner. Wheeee!
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

With young Rudy along, multiple extended breaks. So....
"Break time, snow angel time!" demonstrates silly Jack.
"What a goof!" states Zorro.
"I can't bear to watch!" adds Rudy.
Finishing the day's run and Nancy was out on the trail to get a nice shot from the front of the happy sled dogs.
All smiles!!!! Happy Boys!
As usual, end of run pork treats to celebrate a fun day:
"My turn!" declares all-business Zorro.
"Me next!" adds happy Jack.
"Hi mom!" says cute Rudy looking at Nancy as he forgot to focus on treats :)

A little backcountry skijoring and then a lot of nordic cruising for another successful short & easy Rudy training run: 3.7 miles traveled with 250 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 20 MPH.

2018/2019 Season to Date: 22 days on the trails covering 113.2 miles with 10,200 feet of elevation climbed.
