Jack & Rudy approved of this morning's super fast & fun run on the groomie zoomie trails!
"Yes indeed! We approve!" says the happy kids. |
As we are now in mid-April, we know "grooming operations" will start to dwindle or stop on various trails we use. As a result, any day you find a freshly groomed trail, you make the most of it and use it like it will be your last groomie zoomie of the season.
Today we were first tracks on the freshly groomed upper elevation trails at Breckenridge Nordic Center. Will this be our last time being first tracks on a groomed speed track this season? Probably not, but you never know. So, Jack, Rudy & I made use of the fresh groom like it was our last of the season!
Beautiful trail with stunning views and Jack & Rudy catch air flying along the groomie zoomie. |
We were having a blast flying around the trails. Jack & Rudy were in a groomed groove as I am not sure how much time they spent flying over the trails versus touching the trails :)
Flying Rudy next to hovering Jack as we sprint on by the Hallelujah Warming Hut. |
With such great conditions, I was able to easily convince Jack & Rudy to redo many sections of the trail as we ran out of "new terrain" before we ran out of time out on the trails.
Similar location to two photos above but we have Jack & Rudy swapped on this pass along this trail. Hovering Rudy next to flying Jack! |
Come along for a fun minute of the groomie zoomie skijoring fun. Wheeee!

All that zooming meant the kids really wanted to roll snow angels to cool off at our turnaround point:
"Rub a dub dub, aahh!" demonstrates the snow rolling kids. Love how each has picked a patch of shade to stop, drop and roll. Too hot to roll angels in the sun :) |
What a day!
"Glad they brought you back!" declares Zorro. "So fast, so fun!" adds chilling Jack & Rudy. |
Our last groomie zoomie of the season? Hopefully not, but you never know. Jack & Rudy sure tore up the trails like it was their last groomie: 10.1 miles traveled with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH!
2020/2021 Season to Date: 134 days on the trails covering 1097.1 miles with 92,100 feet of elevation climbed.
