Powder Plowing in mid-April! Yay for Snow!
Jack & Rudy busting through the fresh powder as they tow me along. A great 'yay for snow' morning! |
Today's skijor outing was a real treat as we had active snow falling on & around us all morning long. We were also first out on the trails on Peak 7 so also had the pleasure of laying fresh tracks all morning long. What a mid-April treat!
Beautiful trail of untouched snow in front of us! The blur up & left of Rudy is a snowflake hitting the camera. You can also see some flakes directly up from Jack & Rudy against the clouds. |
How about some more flakes along the way?
Nice BIG flake above and slightly left of Rudy. Lots of little flakes visible against the trees. Wheeee! |
Sometimes still photos, such as the prior two, do not do justice to the great conditions. I thought we'd have lots of still photos showcasing the active snowfall. But, the flakes were just hard to make out in still shots. So, here we go with a video instead. Come along and watch the wonderful active snowfall coming down around us as we zip along the trail. Yay for Snow!

Before today, we had been in a typical April warm spell. I made mention to "rodents awakening" recently and giving Jack & Rudy something to sense and search for under the snow. Well, the rodents did not get the memo that today was going to be cold and snowy. As a result, there was still plenty of action stirring under the snow. At one point, Jack lunged off trail to start and dig. Rudy, the rodent diving/digging professional, quickly hopped off trail with Jack and took over the excavation for rodents :)
"I sensed them right HERE!" declares Jack. "Got it! Rodent excavation incoming!" joins in excavator Rudy :) |
Oh those silly kids. I wonder what Zorro will think of my rodent excavation report?
"Silly, just plain silly!" decides Zorro. "We are proud to be known as rodent excavators!" adds Jack & Rudy. |
A great day laying fresh tracks while skijoring amidst active snowfall: 9.2 miles traveled with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 20 MPH.
2021/2022 Season to Date: 134 days on the trails covering 1136.6 miles with 105,900 feet of elevation climbed.
