Passing 700

Rudy wanted to make sure I heard him at our turnaround point this morning!

(as if you could miss hearing his WOO! :)

Rudy in close, almost too close to be on camera, to give me a woo.
"WOO! Did you hear me? WOO!" says the "in close" wooing kid.
"Noise, noise, noise, why not roll snow angels instead?" suggests silly Jack.

We surpassed 700 miles of skijoring for the 2022-2023 season this morning (706.2 to be exact) and did so by doing one of our favorite combination routes: backcountry fun to groomed nordic fun.

We started the day laying fresh tracks in a light layer of new snow in the backcountry:

Zooming freshies.

We did an "out & back" in the backcountry, so got to reuse our tracks on the way back and get a great shot of Breckenridge Ski Resort across the valley from us:

Reusing our "out track" on the way back with some awesome
views along the way.

Then, we used another backcountry trail to eventually drop us onto the groomed trails of Gold Run Nordic Center. Jack & Rudy love getting on the groomie zoomie trails after warming up in the backcountry. We were thrilled to find ourselves first tracks on the freshly groomed nordic trail far away from the trailhead:

First tracks on the perfect groom with cool snow poofs flying off
Jack & Rudy's feet.

We often find ourselves being first tracks far from the trailhead as not many humans can propel themselves that far. But, to our real surprise, we were first tracks on the groomed nordic trail ALL morning long. Even when we started getting close to the trailhead, I was shocked that nobody had been out on the trails yet! How fun!

Catching air in a location where we are rarely first tracks! Wheeee!

Come along for the amazing video of us being first tracks on the groomie zoomie in an area close enough to the trailhead that we are rarely first tracks. Zoom, zoom, zoom!

Amazing morning, who's ready for end of run treats?

"You have our full attention!" declares my perfect, happy partners.

A wonderful backcountry + nordic groomed combination skijor: 9.4 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH.

2022/2023 Season to Date: 81 days on the trails covering 706.2 miles with 64,650 feet of elevation climbed.
