Fun run connecting Baldy Mountain to Boreas Mountain this morning.
Cruising along the fast packed Boreas Pass as Breckenridge Ski Resort starts to come into view across the valley. |
Today's entertainment was "Look out for that...." .... "Deer Leg!"
We were trotting along the trail when I saw what appeared to be a large branch laying across the trail. "No problem," I thought, "Max & Zorro could care less about sticks, we'll just cruise on by."
The arrow above points out what appeared to be a large branch or stick across the trail. So I thought.... |
As we got closer my skijor partners dipped their noses up & down and side to side as we got near the supposed branch. "What has got the attention of their noses?" I wondered until both of them dipped onto the "branch" instead of trotting by (as would be normal).
"Whoa! That's not a branch! It's a DEER LEG!" I suddenly realized! "Of course, we wouldn't slow and dip for a stupid branch!" state Max & Zorro. |
Zorro lost interest quickly; but not Max as I was not prepared for him to stop in front of me! Look out for that DEER LEG!
"Picked clean of meat - boring... Moving on!" states Zorro. "No, no, this end still has meat! Yum, yum!" exclaims Max. |
Done with the deer leg, back to cruising Boreas Pass as we encounter a group hiking up to the overnight huts on the top of Boreas.
"Hi! Made you smile!" say Max & Zorro flirting with the smiling crowd as we trot by. |
A nice day to connect Baldy and Boreas Mountains with an entertaining Deer Leg along the way: 7.7 miles traveled with 1000 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 18 MPH.
2015/2016 Season to Date: 32 days on the trails covering 267.1 miles with 27650 feet of elevation climbed.
