False Alarm

Do you think Jack & Rudy had a good time on this morning's skijor?

"Oh my! We had a BLAST!" exclaims the happy kids!

It was a bluebird morning with recently groomed trails and great views from the upper elevation trails at Breckenridge Nordic Center. Jack & Rudy got into a real speed groove :)

Zooming along. What nice views!

Reverse the direction and same results: zooming and viewing!

Love the snow poofs from the freshly groomed
trail behind Jack & Rudy!

Now for the real excitement of the day. We were cruising along one section of trail when Rudy and then Jack became totally focused on something in the trees to our right. We were in known moose territory along this trail so you better believe I was on full "moose alert" and scanning the trees too!

The kids VERY distracted by something to our right! Eek! Caution!

Come along for the video counterpart to the prior photo. Watch as we are cruising nicely when the kids break stride a little as they are distracted by something to the right. But, alas, we did not spot any moose and the kids recover quickly to refocus and continue along the trail. While it may look innocent in the video, it was a "scary caution" in person. What other than a moose can distract them this much? But, since Jack did not stop, any moose must have been far off trail and camouflaged in the trees. Phew!

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

Back to those happy, happy faces as we share 'end of run' treats with elder Zorro:

"Fun day! Fun day!" says the happy & focused trio.

A zooming day on nordic trails with a little "distraction in the forest" to add to the excitement: 8.3 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 106 days on the trails covering 866.5 miles with 75,200 feet of elevation climbed
