POW Day

It was a POW, POW, Powder Day on Baldy Mountain this morning!

Great shot of Jack & Rudy powering through 15+ inches
of powder as they tow me through the backcountry!

We had some great snowfall yesterday and overnight. With tons of fresh powder, we went to our favorite powder location this morning: Baldy Mountain. Of course, other powder hounds had the same idea as us. While we were not first tracks on the main Baldy trail, there was plenty of new snow to still be kicking up powder on the main trail!

Note the "set track" down the middle in front of us.
Despite a handful of people getting out on the trail before us,
there was still plenty of snow to be kicking up powder
in set tracks! Wheeee!

But, to really enjoy the morning's powder, we spent the majority of the day off the main trail to find ourselves breaking trail for miles in 15+ inches of untouched powder. Fun!

Jack & Rudy snorkeling through the deep snow.
Go kids go!

Today's video highlight is, of course, trail breaking power from Jack & Rudy. Come along as the kids are powering through the deep snow on an untouched side trail. Powder Power Kids :)

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

Fun shot of happy Jack & Rudy as we take a breather between trail breaking adventures. Look at that "snow hole" Jack is in! Meanwhile, Rudy is down so he can float & rest atop the deep snow.

"So much fun today!" exclaims the trail breaking duo.

Back in the Jeep to enjoy end of run treats with Zorro and get the human under the cover of the Jeep window to begin to thaw him out. Look at all that snow on my shoulder harness and, no, I did not fall today!

Full attention from the handsome trio.
Silly Jack forgetting that Zorro goes first!
Don't worry, I remembered Zorro goes first :)

A day of breaking trail where we were happily slowed by deep, deep snow: 6.6 miles traveled with 600 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 18 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 109 days on the trails covering 889.1 miles with 76,900 feet of elevation climbed.
