Vertical Drop

I think Jack & Rudy enjoyed this morning's skijor. How about you?

"Yes! We sure had FUN!!!!" declares the happy pair.

We got out early on the trails at Rabbit Ears Pass and only had time for a short run. Well, Jack & Rudy made the most of the day! We were THRILLED to find the main snowmobile trail had just been groomed. Jack & Rudy showed their appreciation for the fresh groom while I put my skis on :)

"Fresh groom! Rub a dub dub!" demonstrates the silly, but very
appreciative, pair.

Once my skis were on, Jack & Rudy knew what to do with a fresh groom. They put the ZOOM into "groomie zoomie" this morning!

Taking off on the immaculate trail early this morning!

We were pretty much flying all over the place this morning following the fresh trail set by the early morning groomer. Zoom, zoom, zoom!

Flying along again!

While most of the day found us flying around gently rolling terrain atop Rabbit Ears Pass, we did encounter one fun "vertical drop". This section of trail has two big drops that are pretty steep to take on skis, not to mention being only 7 feet behind Jack & Rudy at the same time :)

Flying kids along one stretch of the vertical drop.

The kids were literally FLYING along the vertical drop. Wheeee!

Catching big air as Jack & Rudy hover along the vertical drop.

Come along for the video show of the wild skijor vertical drop! The clip starts with us jogging along a flat trail. Then, we come upon the "vertical drop" - love how both Jack & Rudy glance back to make sure I'm really taking this drop behind them. But, with a freshly groomed trail, it was completely safe for me to drop in behind them. Top speed? 25 MPH! Zoom! If your volume is up you'll hear my hollering "woo" and "whee" as I cannot believe how much wild & fast fun we are having along the vertical drop :)

What a day! Let's go tell elder Zorro all about it!

"Hi big bro! Thanks for waiting for us. Just wait until you hear
about our 'vertical drop' this morning!
" states happy and
satisfied Jack & Rudy approaching approving Zorro to end
the morning's skijor.

As I mentioned, we only had time for a short run (timewise) and, oh boy, did Jack & Rudy make full use of the short time to cover 8 miles with 500 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 25 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 97 days on the trails covering 791.7 miles with 68,600 feet of elevation climbed.
