Fast Fun Day

Happy handsome Jack politely checking in with me at our turnaround point of the morning!

"You coming?" asks happy handsome Jack.
"Ready!" declares 'lined out' Rudy.

Note the perfect groomed trail in the prior photo! But, first, it was a beautiful morning for laying fresh tracks before going fast, fast, fast!

We started out on some lesser used side trails and found ourselves laying fresh tracks in 1-2 inches of untouched snow.

Laying fresh tracks on a beautiful untouched trail!

We then dipped out of the sun from the prior photo and into the forest. It was still "fresh tracks" on the shaded side trails. Wheeee!

Jack the flying bowling ball!
Rudy the flying missile! Wheeee!

After flying around the lesser used trails, it was time to drop onto the trails of Gold Run Nordic Center. If you've been following along lately, you may have noticed we have been on the trails of Gold Run quite a bit lately. Well, these trails were wonderfully refreshed with new snow late last week and this particular nordic center closes the end of March. So, with less than 2 weeks remaining, we are using these fun & fast groomed trails quite frequently! Once we got onto the nordic trails it was Jack & Rudy's normal "groomie zoomie" skijoring.

The flying kids on freshly groomed trails!

Back to the first photo above. Come along as today's video starts with that photo. Happy Jack is politely checking in with me as I was turning around while 'all business' Rudy is lined out ready to go. But, notice how Jack is certainly ready too as he launches forward after checking in with me and then has to check back once more before I give the verbal "OK" to take off. Then we certainly do Take Off! Today's top speed along this stretch of trail? 25 MPH. Zoom!

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

Going fast, fast, fast leads to serious snow angels to cool off during a momentary pause on the trails:

"Rub a dub dub - aahh!" demonstrates the snow rolling brothers.

Done for the day and time to give Zorro our trail report:

"Perfect day big bro! Glad you came to get us!" reports Jack & Rudy
to 'happy to see us' Zorro!

Another fun day of fresh tracks to first tracks on & around Gold Run Nordic Center: 7.7 miles traveled with 500 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 25 MPH.

2020/2021 Season to Date: 113 days on the trails covering 923.5 miles with 78,750 feet of elevation climbed.
