Goofy Jack & Rudy rolling snow angels before we got started skijoring this morning.
Retired, mentor Zorro looks on in disbelief :)
"Come on Z, you know you want to join us!" declares giddy Jack to Zorro. "I did NOT teach that!" says Zorro in disbelief :) |
Oh those silly kids! While mentor Zorro DID teach Jack and then Rudy how to skijor, he did not teach them the snow angel antics :) Over his career, Zorro rolled the rare snow angel now & then. Jack, meanwhile, has rolled snow angels on EVERY outing of his young career (521 outings and counting). Rudy learned his snow angel antics from his elder Jack as Rudy has been rolled angels on at least 95% of his skijor outings.
Back to skijoring... We arrived at the Harrison Creek Trail atop Rabbit Ears Pass to find the following:
Fresh groomie zoomie!!!!! Once Jack & Rudy stopped rolling angels, we aligned ourselves on this beautiful trail to start the morning. |
The fresh groom did not last very long. But, that's ok, we were perfectly happy to follow wide snowmobile tracks for miles & miles instead. Wheeee!
Most of the outing had conditions like this: fast & wide snowmobile trails. There's Jack & Rudy hovering over the trail again :) |
Come along for the video highlight of the day as we topped 24 MPH on this stretch. The clip starts with us in a nice gallop with my riding a bit to the left of the team. The trail was smoother (for me) to the left and I wanted to see around some of the upcoming corners. But, once the trail straightens a bit, I tuck myself in behind Jack & Rudy and we accelerate to 24 MPH. Zoom!
[watch on youtube if no video loads below]
Nice view at the highest point of our outing.
"Cool! Can we drop off this cliff?" asks mesmerized Jack & Rudy. "No guys, we are not doing a vertical drop!" I replied. |
Back to the trailhead for 'end of run' treats with retired mentor Zorro:
"I DID teach 'end of run' treat focus!" declares Zorro. "Yep, I remember Z teaching us this!" adds happy Jack. "Oh yeah, end of run treats! Coming!" contributes la-la-land Rudy. |
A zippy fun day on Harrison Creek: 10.1 miles traveled with 800 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 24 MPH.
2021/2022 Season to Date: 37 days on the trails covering 291.6 miles with 27,100 feet of elevation climbed.
