Whee, Woo

Jack & Rudy laying fresh tracks as we crest on the trail at the historic Sally Barber Mine.

There's the mine! Here we go on by! Wheeee!

Today's outing was very similar to yesterday's. First, we did a tour on the trails around Sally Barber Mine. Second, we were limited to a short outing as Rudy & I had a scheduled therapy dog visit in the morning (whereas Jack & I had a therapy dog gig yesterday morning). Jack & Rudy are very well-rounded young men as they are both professional sled dogs and certified therapy dogs - impressive guys! :)

The main difference from yesterday? Well, yesterday we went up & back the front side of the historic mine with a side tour at the top. Today, we went up, down and back up the quiet, lesser used side of the mine before finishing down the more popular front side of the mine. The treat to spending most of the day on the back side of the mine? Well, were able to lay fresh tracks in the morning's new snow on this side of the mine!

Fresh tracks fun!

With a few inches of fresh snow, we were able to uncork the skijoring engine for long stretches of perfect trail conditions this morning. What fun!

Jack & Rudy FLYING along the trail!

Today's video highlight is a fun one (well, they are all fun to me :) Come along as we are skijoring a beautiful trail with a few "lifts & dips" along the way. If your volume is up, you'll hear me saying "whee" or "woo" (or similar) as we lift & dip over each rise in the trail. Jack & Rudy take my fun voice as a license to open the throttle which is perfectly justified. If I'm talking silly or fun, then I can also concentrate on going fast & furious :)

[watch on youtube if no video loads below]

Here's a rare shot: Rudy rolling a snow angel but Jack is not! Jack not rolling a snow angel? Say it isn't so!!! Well, don't worry, Jack did get in his patented snow angel roll at a different point of the outing, keeping his lifelong streak of "1+ snow angels per skijor" alive!

Rolling Rudy!
"Sorry, I'm busy digging for rodents!" declares distracted Jack.

Such fun partners, such happy partners!

"Ready for the goods!" says 'end of run' treat inspecting Zorro.
"So much fun! So happy!" adds cute Jack & Rudy.

Another quick outing before Rudy and I had to get to our "therapy dog" job! 5.7 miles traveled with 500 feet of elevation climbed and a top speed of 23 MPH.

2021/2022 Season to Date: 27 days on the trails covering 203.5 miles with 19,500 feet of elevation climbed.
